About us

Here at Lakewood cottages, we are excited to be branching out in a new collaboration with Kate (forest school teacher) at NatureCwtch, in offering a variety of forest school experiences. We have an ideal woodland area which is the perfect setting to enjoy some forest school fun ranging from family stay and play sessions to (instead of and) bespoke birthday parties. We can also facilitate hire of the forest school space for your school or organisation.

Our forest school woodland offers a unique opportunity for children to experience nature like never before, this bespoke area is nestled in mature woodland that has been carefully designed and crafted to enable children, young people and adults to develop a deeper connection with nature and have fun together to enable all to learn new ways to be creative, build confidence and independence. As a family, we know just how valuable this is from our own two children, we wanted to share this so you can too.

Kate at Naturecwtch runs the sessions, she is an experienced qualified forest school teacher who has a passion for all things outdoors. Kate has the necessary DBS check and insurance to run the sessions as well as being first aid trained. The site is well equipped with parking and toilet facilities on site.

Forest school fun embraces all weathers, so, unless unsafe to do so, we aim to hold the stay and play sessions in all weathers - wellies at the ready!

Family Stay and Play

Take the opportunity with your child to play in nature, light fires, build dens, explore in the dig zone and cook up a storm in the mud kitchen, plus much more in our beautiful woodland.
Stay and Play sessions, each second Saturday of the month
Starts 10am-12noon

£12.50 per child includes one adult free per paying child (under 2 are free, if part of a sibling group)
£5.00 per additional adult.

Stay and Play sessions for older children

Building upon the family stay and play sessions, this is an opportunity for older children, 7-16yrs to develop their forest school skills and thirst for adventure. Can a den ever be too big??!!!

£12.50 per child includes one adult free per paying child.
£5.00 per additional adult.

Birthday Parties

Come join us on the best birthday party adventure, from campfire snacks, fire lighting, craftmaking, den building and much more. Build your own Forest School party, tailoring this to your child with a range activities available.
Food can be provided with a choice of options to suit every budget. Woodland themed party bags also available, alongside electronic invites.

Prices start from £250.00 for up to 10 Children £5.00 per additional Child. Maximum of 20 children in total, food and party bag options are an additional charge.
